Kaizo Bridge
All of Kanto on one bridge over the sea. One Pokémon, one life, and a new random run every time you start.
From Route 1 to the League, without leaving the bridge
The rules are the IronMON Kaizo rules, built into the bridge
- One PokémonA random starter under 600 base stats, at level 8. Outside the lab you can swap it once, blind, for one of three mystery Pokémon.
- One lifeIf your Pokémon faints, the run is over and its save is deleted. Back home, a new run starts by itself.
- No healing insideDungeons, gyms, the Dojo and the League ask before you enter. Inside, there is no nurse until you come out.
- Back inside, never back outIn Viridian Forest, Mt. Moon, the Rocket Hideout, the Pokémon Tower and the Pokémon Mansion you can go back for optional trainers even after the boss, at your own risk: the nurse stays outside. At Silph Co., beating Giovanni closes the way back. Once you are out, a dungeon stays behind you.
- Stronger evolutionsEvery evolution adds at least 60 base stat points, up to 580. Every evolution stone is for sale in Pewter City.
- Tuned experienceBeat everyone and you reach the League around level 92. Experience stops at 95.
How to play
- Load your FireRed
Pokémon FireRed, USA version 1.0. The page checks it and keeps it on your device. It is never uploaded.
- Start a run
Your browser applies the patch of a fresh run to your ROM: new starter, new trainer teams, new items.
- Play, save, lose, start again
The game runs in the page. Saving in game keeps one save for that run in your browser; with a free account your runs stay on record.
Questions
Is this an official Pokémon game?
No. Kaizo Bridge is a fan project, not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak or The Pokémon Company. It only distributes patches, never the game.
Is it free?
The game is: patches, saves, runs, the guide and the leaderboards. The tracker, the live panel next to the game, is a perk for subscribers of our Twitch channel: connect Twitch from your account and it unlocks.
Why do I need my own ROM?
Because the game belongs to Nintendo. You bring your copy of Pokémon FireRed (USA 1.0); the page turns it into a Kaizo Bridge run on your device.
Is the game in English?
Yes, always: the site is in English and Italian, the game only in English, like the US ROM it starts from.
Where are my saves kept?
In your browser, one per run. Use Export saves to keep a file you can import on another device. A lost run stays lost, even if you import an older file.
Can I play in mGBA instead?
Yes. Start a run and use Download this run to get the .gba file for that run.
Which keys do I use?
Arrows to move, X for A, Z for B, Enter for Start, Backspace for Select, A and S for L and R. Phones and tablets get on-screen buttons.
